An Auburn man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend pleaded guilty to murder Thursday.

David McNamara, 36, will spend 20 years to life behind bars. Prosecutors say McNamara strangled his ex-girlfriend in June 2011. The body of Katie Socci, 29, was found buried in shallow dirt not far from her home. Neighbors called police when they heard Socci's dog barking and she failed to answer the phone. Police found her 18-month-old daughter sleeping in the house alone and the search began.

McNamara will be sentenced on April 23rd.
