Family, friends, and students gathered Thursday night to wish for the safe return of North-Rose Wolcott High School vocal music teacher Fred Dunn, "I just showed up here to pay my respects for music because music is a part of my life it's a small community and I just hope for the best," said Frank Smith, who attended the vigil.

Dunn is in charge of the school musical.

He disappeared Wednesday afternoon after telling students he was leaving the school to run some errands. Dunn was last seen at the Big M in Wolcott.  His car was found parked at the end of Dutch Street Road, close to Lake Ontario.

Authorities spent much of Thursday searching an area near the lake, in the town of Huron.  So far, they don't have any clues to lead them to Dunn.

Students say Dunn was a good teacher, "he's really good with the community he always does fundraisers and what not," said Jacob Parker, one of Dunn's former students, "he has been great to me, he has always been the guy I can always turn to and talk to about things."

In January Dunn appeared in News 8's regular series, Scholastic Arts Spotlight.  He nominated an outstanding student.  Now students are hoping for the best, "I'm worried to be honest it's pretty nerve racking to hear that he's been a great guy and it's heartbreaking to hear that he's missing like this I hope everything is okay though," said Parker.

Dunn has been a teacher in the North Rose Wolcott School District for the last 27 years.  The musical has been put on hold until Dunn is found.

Authorities will continue searching for Dunn on Friday.
