Two adults and two teens were able to get out of their burning home on Dewey Avenue in Irondequoit. The fire started around 10:30 Wednesday night. Fire crews arrived to find smoke coming from a second floor window, and fire in a first floor window. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Another fire of LeFrois St. in Rochester broke out shortly before 3 a.m. The home had working smoke detectors helping eight people - three adults and five children - to escape unharmed. A dog was killed.
Fire investigators believe it started on the home's porch and then spread to the house. Equipment and heating are being checked as a possible cause.
