New East Ave. Wegmans Could Mean New Traffic Patterns

By: WROC-TV
Updated: February 19, 2013
Once Wegmans debuts its new store on East Avenue, traffic could be different in the area.

Legislation has been submitted to Rochester City Council that would make the small Probert Street, directly adjacent to the current Wegmans parking lot, a one-way street. The hope is that this will reduce traffic congestion. If approved, it also means shoppers will not be able to access the parking lot from Probert Street. The change would add five additional street parking spots and provide space for a bicycle lane.

The legislation is up for vote at Tuesday's meeting. The city still has to a hold a public hearing for the proposed changes.
