York confirmed to News 8 that he will not be seeking re-election this fall. Sheriff York joined the sheriff's office in 1969. He was elected sheriff in 1989. Current undersheriff Jim Scezniak has announced he will run. Tom Dougherty, a seven-year veteran of their department, announced several weeks ago that he will run for the sheriff's office.
