It's winter break for students and that means a big boom for area museums like the Rochester Museum and Science Center.

Yesterday alone, the museum saw more than 1500 people for Harry Potter day.

"It's absolutely the busiest week for us, but it's also the most fun because we have so many people here. It's the most fun when there is a lot of people here, lots of engagement and we can provide lots of opportunities for fun and for learning," said Calvin Uzelmeier, Director of Education.

This week, it's all about movie-themed activities.

"No matter what you're into if you're a big pirates fan, or you're into Twilight. You're an Edward kind of person or maybe you're a Star Wars fan. There's something everyday," said Uzelmeier.

If movie magic isn't your thing, there's the "Race: Are We So Different Exhibit?" A new traveling exhibit that explores different races. For the museum, it's all about keeping it fresh.

"You've got great exhibits. Raceways exhibit, obviously all the hands-on activities for movie magic for the kids, but then there is also tons of stuff for the parents, the laser exhibit, the mastodon that is behind me, so there's lots of things for everyone," said Uzelmeier.

The museum offers a mix of education and entertainment for just about everything. The "Energize It" exhibit is all about power and energy.

And if you like to watch things blow up or go boom, you won't want to miss the daily explosion at 1 o'clock.

"Kids go crazy over it because well, they like to see anytime an adult ends up getting covered with suds. They always like that, or you see anything that blows up," said Tim Cawley, Head of Theater and Outreach.

Winter break certainly kicking off with a bang!
