Next Month Could Begin Federal Furloughs

Federal workers could start facing furloughs as early as April unless Congress steps in to stop automatic spending cuts.
Across the board, cuts are set to kick in March 1st. The so-called sequester would trim more than $1 trillion from federal budgets over a decade. The sequester can be avoided if Congress and the White House agree on a plan to reduce the deficit.
