Town of Rush Maintains Hydrofracking Ban

The town of Rush extended its ban on hydrofracking.
In a unanimous decision, the town board extended to moratorium by six months. Rush is one of several local towns and cities with a hydrofracking ban, including Brighton, Avon and the city of Rochester. Hydrofracking is a controversial process of blasting chemicals into the ground to extract natural gas. The state has yet to rule whether to allow hydrofracking. A decision was expected by the end of the month, but will likely be delayed.
