Three times the fun with this Golden Apple Award. The Torres triplets asked us to surprise their First Grade Teacher Rita Tederous at the Charles Finney School in Penfield.

Cameron, Jose Rafael Torres, also know as the Torres triplets, wrote a letter asking us surprise their first grade teacher at the Charles Finney School. They say it's because "She's nice to us!"

The boy's mother, Josette Torres, calls Rita a gift from God. "I love her to death, you guys will see for yourself, she's amazing."

Miss Tederous is known for doing just about everything around the school. When we walked in to surprise her with a golden Apple Award she had rubber gloves on and was cleaning her classroom.

Rita has been a first grade teacher for years. Principal Mike VanLeeuwen describes her secret for success. "Patience, Rita has patience beyond what most people have and I guess you have to when you're working with that age group."

Rita says teaching first graders is a lot of fun. "I love it because they're excited about learning and they're excited about school. You introduce them to so many things for the first time and they just love it. I just love being here and love teaching them and they're all excited, it's just a fun job."

Josette knows her three sons are in good hands. "When I send them to school I feel safe, I feel good, this is a great school."

Rita Tederous is a news 8 Golden Apple Award winner.
