A man and his children escaped a fire on Marion Street overnight.

It happened just before 11:30 p.m. Monday. Firefighters say the man was reading by the light of a propane lighter because there was no electricity running to the house. The lighter had a gas leak, which started a flash fire. There was minor damage to the home, but there were no injuries.
