Richards To Seek Re-Election

Rochester Mayor Tom Richards says he is running for re-election this November.

The mayor said he did not want to make the announcement now, but added he felt compelled to get on the record after Rochester City Council President Lovely Warren said recently she was considering a run. Richards said his decision was driven in large part by a desire to see his agenda through. He is not a career politician, but feels his background as a business executive gives him the right skills to lead the re-shaping of Rochester at this time.

Richards chose not to comment on potential challengers, such as Warren, but said he will continue to focus in the near term on addressing Rochester's economic deficit.
