Man Found Dead On East Ave. Identified

The Monroe County Sheriff's office has identified the man who was found dead on the side of the road on East Avenue in Pittsford.

Vaughn Steele, 26, was found in the area of East Avenue and Kilbourn Road. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Sheriff deputies say the driver called into 911 just before 10 p.m. and admitted to hitting Steele. The driver told deputies that he thought he hit a garbage can.

Deputies are continuing their investigation. The driver has not yet been charged.
