Four people remain in guarded condition at Strong Hospital after a house fire in Chili.

Investigators say around 10:20 a.m. postal worker Barb Langdon saw smoke coming from a home on Golden Road and called 911.
She along with another firefighter, rescued Judy Ogg, 67, who was hanging out of her window.Firefighters then found Ogg's 25-year-old daughter lying on the floor. Her four-year-old son was also brought to safety.  A firefighter went back inside the home and noticed a pile of debris moving in the kitchen. That's where he found the seven-month-old girl. Both children and their mother were unconscious when rescued. Firefighters say they had a hard time locating all of the victims because the smoke was so bad that they couldn't see six inches in front of them.

"Whether its children or not, when you hear that there are people trapped, you do everything that you can to get to them and get to them as fast as possible. Then you hear that children are involved, and it definitely impacts you personally so maybe there's a greater thrust to get in there and get to them," said Monroe County Sheriff Deputy Jason Elliotto.

One pet did die in the fire. Three firefighters were injured. One of them remains in the hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. We do know there were no working smoke detectors inside.
