Music filled the Eastman Theater Monday morning for a Martin Luther King Jr. celebration. Hundreds packed the theater for the 28th annual "Collective Community Worship Celebration." Leaders of various faiths, politicians and the community-wide celebration choir led the ceremony. Anthony Smith is part of Alpha Phi Alpha, the same fraternity that King Jr. was a part of.
"Obviously, being an alpha is something that that I am very proud of and Dr. King was very passionate about. I feel like it's part of my responsibility to carry on some of the things he believed in to keep his legacy going," Smith said.
The last time Inauguration Day fell on Martin Luther King Day was for President Ronald Reagan's second term in 1985.
