Separating and sorting thousands of pills a day, you might say Tops Friendly Market Pharmacist Dr. George Milevich has his hands full.
Now try adding the responsibility of administering flu vaccines.
"There's been a real uptick with flu shots here," he said.
That makes Dr. Milevich extra busy. But, that doesn't bother him.
In fact, he's happy to do it.
"As pharmacists, we're on the front lines of this epidemic and we're hitting it strong, right on," said Milevich.
There has been an increased number of flu cases nationwide and a push from health officials for everyone to get a shot to stop the spread.
Therefore, more people than usual are getting a flu shot this season. Milevich's Tops Friendly Food Market store is on Ridge Road in Irondequoit.
It's one of just two Tops locations in the area with any flu shots left. Milevich says they've
given hundreds of flu shots this season and now they are down to the last three.
"Actually, I just ordered another supply in so hopefully that arrives shortly and we'll be able to administer more flu shots."
So far they haven't had to turn anyone away and he hopes they won't have to.
"It doesn't take much from us and the benefit to the public is huge."
