Longtime Congresswoman Louise Slaughter has been appointed to a new federal committee for gun violence prevention.

Slaughter is now part of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, a new organization created by House Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. The task force is made up of several congressional leaders. Their goal is to find and gather comprehensive ideas for reducing gun violence. The new task force comes on the heels of major nationwide tragedies, including the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut and the killing of two firefighters in Webster.

The Congresswoman is looking for help and ideas from people in Monroe County. If you have ideas that you would like to contribute, click here.
