A historic bridge in Livingston County may soon see some new life. A public hearing was held to discuss the future of the train bridge at Letchworth State Park.

Trains can only cross the 138-year-old bridge at 10 miles per hour. One proposal calls for a new bridge costing about $69 million. Norfolk Southern would take on the bulk of the cost with some help from the State Department of Transportation. Companies still use the bridge to transport goods across the state and officials say a new bridge will be good for business.

I have been pushing forsaving the high bridge for awhile now, I really hoped that they could save the historic one, but that does not look likely. If they build a new one, at least there will still be a structure there.
