The National spotlight is on a local fifth grader, thanks to her message about safety.  Olivia Beach of the Saint Lawrence School in Greece won a National contest put on by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
She competed against 200 other children nationwide.
It is an annual contest held during Hispanic Heritage Month.  Olivia and her classmates created a poster in Spanish class with the theme "My Rules of Safety."
Olivia says she learned, "to follow the rules and not go with someone if you don't know them." "I've learned how to write the rules in spanish and all my rules also."
Students at the St. Lawrence School were the only local participants.  Olivia won a laptop and her poster will be framed and displayed at school.  The runners up were from Texas and Arizona.
