Pilato Defense Asking For Delay of Trial

Due to the tragic holiday events in Webster, defense counsel for Michael Pilato is hoping to delay the start of his trial.
Pilato's trial is supposed to begin on January 14th, but his attorney is requesting that the Webster teen's trial be delayed until April. According to court documents, the same officers and first responders who were involved with the Lake Road tragedy were also involved with the Pilato case. In addition, "the similar nature of the allegations and the fact that they occurred in close proximity to one another, involving the same police and fire department, raises serious question as to whether Mr. Pilato can receive a fair trial at the current time."
A judge will hear the motion and make a ruling on Thursday.
