A settlement has been reached between Darien Lake Theme Park and the family of a man who died after falling off of one of their rollercoasters.

The theme park has confirmed it has reached a settlement with the family of James Hackemer. Hackemer was thrown out of a ride car on the second tallest of three hills of the Ride of Steel. Hackemer was an Iraq war veteran and a double amputee. The settlement was reached in federal court. His two daughters will be the primary beneficiaries.
