Autopsy Results Released On Slain Firefighters

By: WROC-TV
Updated: December 27, 2012
Autopsy results show that slain firefighters Mike Chiapperini and Tomasz Kaczowka died from gunshot wounds.

The medical examiner determined that Chiapperini died from a single gunsho and Kaczowka died from two gunshots. Police say the two were shot after they were ambushed by William Spengler, 62, while responding to a fire on Lake Road on Christmas Eve. Spengler died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The medical examiner is still working to identify remains found in the rubble of the house belonging to Spengler. Investigators presume them to be that of Spengler's sister, Cheryl.
