State Police say to plan ahead, leave a few minutes early to give yourself enough time to get to where you need to go safely and to go slow. Many accidents happen because drivers are going too fast for the road conditions.
"Plan your trips as far in advance as possible, says State Tropper Jon Lupo. "Even shopping trips..If you're going to Eastview Mall for example, you know it's going to be busy not only in the stores but getting in and out of the parking lots and if you're on a tight schedule you need to find a way for some extra time to maximize your chances of not getting into trouble."
Police say if you can, travel during the day instead of the night. Also remember it's against the law to use your cell phone, GPS, iPod, or other device while behind the wheel.
