Syracuse got on the board first when Darren Toby beat Rochester netminder Gavin McInerney on a shorthanded goal to give the visitors an early advantage. Rochester charged back as Enrique tied the score with a scissors kick to give the Lancer faithful something to cheer about. A minute and a half later Jeremy Ortiz tallied a three-pointer to give Rochester a 5-2 lead. Syracuse's Neto would finish off the opening quarter by cutting the Lancer lead to one at the end of fifteen minutes.
The hometown faithful witnessed a defensive struggle during the second quarter of play with the Silver Knights tallying the period's only two goals. Nelson Santana and Andriy Budnyy each scored during the second stanza as Syracuse would take an 8-5 lead into the half.
In the third quarter Rochester's Doug Miller sandwiched a pair of goals around a Jon Gruenwald tally for Syracuse to make the score 10-9 at the end of three quarters.
The fourth quarter saw the visitors begin pull away with a pair of three point goals by Bryan Perez and Slavisa Ubiparapovic to make the score 16-9. Rochester's Stephen Basso brought the Lancers to within five before Mauricio Salles pulled Rochester to within a goal blasting a three-pointer past Syracuse goalkeeper Bryan O'Quinn. Rochester mounted a furious effort to close out the game but couldn't manage to tally the game-tying goal.
Four every goal that the Lancers score this season Dunkin' Donuts will donate a pound of coffee to Foodlink. With six goals scored today, that is six more pounds bringing the season's total to 61 pounds of coffee for Foodlink courtesy of Dunkin' Donuts and the Rochester Lancers.
