A student from TC Armstrong Middle School in the Wayne Central School District wanted to give her favorite teacher a Golden Apple Award and she had a great idea about how to do it. Tonight, Kevin Doran honors Erin Lincoln.

Middle school kids say they get excited about going to Erin Lincoln's Social Studies class at TC Armstrong Middle School.

"She understands adolescents and really how to get through to them to enjoy learning and be successful with it. So she's one of our heroes in the classroom," said Principal Pam Tatro.

Katie Leaty thinks Mrs. Lincoln is one of the coolest teachers around.

"Her voice tone everyday it's always like nice and bubbly. And she's never really like a quiet person, she always makes sure she has lots of energy and she keeps a positive attitude," said Katie.

Katie thought it would be fun to be tardy for class and walk in with us.

"Miss Lincoln?  I'm sorry I'm late but I brought some friends."

"Hey surprise. You're the winner of a Golden Apple Award for being a fantastic teacher Mrs. Lincoln!"

Erin works hard to make her class fun.

"Cause their 12 and 13 and we teach social studies and things that happened a really long time ago. And some of it doesn't seem to connect to them but, I think we try, all of us to make it so that it connects to them so that they feel it."

And SHE feels wonderful Katie wanted to say thank you.

"Sometimes you don't really realize that people really look forward to your class. You just think it's one of 7 or 8 that they have. So the fact that Katie or anybody is excited to come to Social Studies is awesome!"

Erin Lincoln. Golden Apple Award winner.
