Parents we spoke with say it is hard letting their children walk back into the classroom, but it is up to the schools to protect every student.

That is why officials in Rochester are reviewing the city's emergency procedures. Mayor Tom Richards and Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard joined city school superintendent Dr. Bolgen Vargas Sunday afternoon. They are reviewing all of their emergency plans in the wake of the Connecticut shooting. For parents, this helps ease their concerns as they drop their children off at school.

"Just as a parent you can never be with your children all the time in there. There are tons of things that can happen throughout the day but just being confident the people of the Rochester City School district want to keep our kids safe and trusting that," Nakeshia Smith said.

"It's hard for any parent to have to drop their kids off and worry are they going to be safe in school. You never think something like this will happen at a school. You just hope for the best when you drop them off," Jasmine Lopez said.

Rochester schools will also have counselors on hand to speak with students about the tragedy in Connecticut.
