Simmons Makes Bail After Sentence Stayed

The Batavia woman convicted of assaulting an elderly Walmart worker has posted bail, and now she may get out at any time.

Sentencing for Jacquetta Simmons, 27, was stayed last month after her attorney filed an appeal. Simmons was convicted of punching Grace Suozzi, 70, in the face last Christmas Eve after Suozzi asked to see her receipt. After a judge granted the stay, bail was set at $50,000. The Genesee County District Attorney's office says that bail was posted Wednesday.
