Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks is responding to Democrats' claims about next year's budget.

Just last week, Democrats said Brooks' claim that taxes are flat is not true because hidden fees mean residents will pay more. Democrats call it the snow tax, a $15 charge per $100,000 of assessed property value towards snow and ice removal on county roads. Brooks still backs that taxes will remain flat.

"We have maintained our commitment to not raise the property tax rate. This is a fair and equitable way to pay for a service that we provide the community. We are doing it without raising taxes," Brooks said.

The county will be holding a public hearing on the budget on Thursday. The final vote will be held on December 11th.
