Longer School Days Coming For Rochester Students

Select public schools in New York will add 300 hours annually starting in 2013.

The Rochester City School District is one of the schools to participate in this effort starting next fall. New York is one of five states planning on expanding their school's calendar year. States will use a mix of federal and state funding to cover the cost. Superintendent Bolgen Vargas is in Washington meeting with education officials. We will have more on this plan tonight on News 8.
