Pierre was found in a bag in the bathroom of the Pittsford Petco on Sunday. The dog suffers from dehydration and malnutrition. Vets say it could be the cause for many other health issues.
Pierre was taken in by GRASP which stands for Greece Residents Assisting Stray Pets. Volunteers stepped in to get the dog medical attention. Now, Pierre is in the hands of Lollypop Farm as the criminal investigation continues.
The next 24 hours are critical in helping find who left Pierre in a bag at the Pittsford Petco. The puppy was left weighing just 19 pounds. Now, investigators are literally combing over Pierre for evidence.
"Our law enforcement investigators are looking into what happened with this situation to see if we can find out who the owner is and exactly what happened with this dog," said Adrienne McHargue, Lollypop Farm Director of Communications.
Lollypop Farm has received dozens of calls from people who want to adopt Pierre. Others claim they are Pierre's owner.
"They will be conducting interviews and talking to people and we will know more soon," said McHargue.
"When you have an animal, it's likely that you, particularly dogs, have the dog licensed in your town, that you have vet records, it's possible that you also have pictures of the dog with your family, and we really look to that kind of information to establish a timeline for ownership," said McHargue.
If you can help with their investigation, you're asked to call 911. For now, vets at Lollypop Farm are nursing Pierre back to health.
