The university has partnered with nine other schools across the country to explore the idea.
The goal of the program is to help students earn credits during their busy schedules right from home. It also gives them a chance to study abroad while they are working towards a degree.
Professors say more information about Semester Online should be available in early 2013.
The universities currently part of this consortium are:
University of Rochester
Brandeis University
Duke University
Emory University
Northwestern University
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
University of Notre Dame
Vanderbilt University
Wake Forest University
Washington University in St. Louis
