When it comes to performance, Rebecca Rice is a triple threat. Not only does she sing, dance and act, she also earns kudos for vocals, piano, and violin. "It's just fun for me," says Rebecca. "I don't really think necessarily about why I'm doing it, I just like to do it. If it makes others happy, that's great too!" Last winter, Rebecca earned a spot on the prestigious All Eastern High School Honor Choir. For two straight years, she was selected not just for All State choir, but orchestra as well. Her teachers are in awe. "I saw her in a musical a couple of years ago, and the director said, 'everything she does on stage is magical,' says Jay Blaufuss, music teacher at Canandaigua Academy. "That's just the effect that she has all through the music department. Violin, piano, singing, everything she does, she's so gifted as a musician, she does so well." Underlying all her magic as a performer, is her incredible skill as a sight-reader. An excellent student, a stellar musician: Rebecca Rice shines in our Scholastic Arts Spotlight.
