The students collected over $1,200 worth of food and money from fellow students, teachers, sports teams and clubs over the past month. The donations will alllow 20 low-income families to enjoy a full Thanksgiving meal, complete with turkey, potatoes, yams, dressing and pie.
"One of our teachers had done stuff in the past with Mount Hope and we decided that we could go through her to try to put together Thanksgiving baskets and do something to help out and make a difference," said senior Tyler DeWeese.
This is the second year of the affiliation. The Mount Hope Family Center studies the effects of violence and abuse on human development and provides clinical services for at-risk families.
