One business that capitalized on Kodak technology was Lumetrics.
It licensed technology the company was not commercializing and is now doing everything from helping with construction on the World Trade Center to measuring hot dog wrappers.
Lumetrics started in 2002 in two bedrooms at a home in Henrietta and now takes over 10,000 square feet of space in an office park.
There are 20 employees now with plans to hire another 5 in the coming year.
The company recently received a nearly $1 million dollar federal grant to help develop a device that will change how eye doctors perform some tests.
