Most people don't notice something's askew at the Clarkson Post Office.

"I didn't notice until you pointed it out," Clarkson Resident Drea Douglas said.

"I've always known there was a flag there, I just never looked up at the flag," Clarkson Resident Forrest Macaleuso said.

For days, Old Glory has flown upside down.

"I think it's just an accident, but if it wasn't an accident then it would upset me," Douglas said.

Right now, her husband is in the Middle East - fighting for everything the flag stands for.

"It upsets me when people are disrespectful to the United States - when we're free," she said.

According to the Flag Code, the stars and stripes should only fly upside down, "as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property."

"There's lots of distress in the country, but I doubt in a little town like this it means something big," Macaleuso said.

Bill Rowe came to fix the problem just before dark Monday.

"Boy they've got this all screwed up," he said.

Rowe says he dates the postmaster. She told him someone's been ignoring the no trespassing sign for six days - ever since President Obama was reelected.

"If it's supposed to be dissatisfaction about the election, it's totally unacceptable to do that in a public place," Clarkson resident Cynthia Czaja said.

Rowe doesn't believe it's political, "It's a little strange, but I don't know. I think it's just kids."

Still he wants the culprits caught and punished.

"I don't know, clean the parking lot or clean the town," he said. "You know pick up the garbage that's laying around."

So they think twice, before disrespecting the flag.
