Buerkle Concedes In 24th Congressional District Race

By: WROC-TV
Updated: November 9, 2012
Three days after election day, central New York Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle has conceded to Democrat Dan Maffei in the 24th district race.

Our Syracuse affiliate, WTVH-TV, reports that Buerkle conceded because she did not think she would garner enough absentee votes to beat Maffei. Final numbers showed Maffei leading Buerkle by about 12,000 votes. Both candidates faced off back in 2010, in which Buerkle took the seat.

The newly-drawn 24th district includes Wayne, Cayuga, Onondaga and parts of Oswego County.
