Some people spent the day stocking up on supplies at Wegmans, and officials at RGE are bracing for big power outages.

Kathleen Treasure usually does her grocery shopping at Wegmans, but she says today is a little different.

"It's a little busier, because I usually come on Monday and there definitely are more people shopping," she said.

Treasure says she is not worried about Sandy, but wants to be prepared for whatever may come.

"I'm just making sure I have milk for the children and dinner for the table tonight," she said.

Hope Tweed is another shopper stocking up, just in case.

"I think it will be fine. I figure it is going to be pretty windy," she said.

RGE reminds customers of these safety tips during the storm: read and understand generators, which can be dangerous. Stay out of flooded basements. Wiring or outlets underwater may be hazardous.

"We urge safety all the time that is our number one concern for employees forour customers, for the community at large. The biggest warning I can give customers if they see a down power line stay away from it," RGE spokesman Dan Hucko said.

RGE says they are prepared to assist customers outside of the Rochester area. If you are experiencing any outages or have any questions, call them at 1-800-743-1701.
