Clayton Whittemore, 21, is charged with murder for the death of SUNY Brockport student Alexandra Kogut. According to the investigators' report, Whittemore confessed to killing Kogut, saying "I killed my girlfriend." He went on to describe the events on the night of September 28th, saying Kogut was continuously rude to him while they were at a friend's house. When they arrived back at her dorm, Whittemore told police that an argument ensued and turned physical. Whittemore says Kogut kept pushing him and yelling at him.
That's when Whittemore said he snapped, saying that he started to hit her "over and over with my fists." He then indicated that Kogut began to have problems breathing. He told investigators "I didn't want the girl I loved to suffer, so I started beating her with the curling iron until the noise stopped." Kogut was found dead in dorm room in the early morning hours of September 29th.
Whittemore has yet to be arraigned in court.
