Thomas 21, Gates-Chili 13

The win gives Thomas the 8th and final playoff spot in the Class AA Sectionals. Gates-Chili will not make the playoffs after losing a game where only the winner would get in.
Armstrong opened the scoring with a four yard TD run in the second quarter, but C.J. Palozzi answered with a pair of short touchdowns to give the Spartans a six point halftime lead.
The Spartans returned the opening kick of the second half to the Thomas 30 yard line, but a penalty and a sack forced Gates-Chili to punt.
Thomas took over on their own 20 slowly moved the ball down the field until Giovanni Pannoni found Kyle Chase with a 28 yard completion to the Spartans' four yard line. Armstrong scored on the next play to give Thomas the lead.
Armstrong's third touchdown early in the fourth quarter made it an eight point lead, and Thomas was in Gates territory when the Spartans forced and recovered a fumble. However, on the next play, David Angie picked off a Gates-Chili pass. The Titans then converted a fourth down and ran the clock out.
Webster Thomas' reward for winning three of their last four to make the season is a first round date at the top ranked team in the state--unbeaten Rush-Henrietta.
