DJ's Host Music for Life Concert for Young Musicians

Kids who want to take music class in the Rochester City School District are about to get a big boost. A group of local DJ's is throwing a huge concert to support music programs in city schools.
The money raised will help young musicians like 13-year old Leomary Caraballo. She plays the violin.
"I love music," Leomary said "I can't live without music."
She love's hearing the music swirl around her in class.
"We sound so harmonized," she said. "It's just awesome."
There are 120 students just like her in School No. 17's string program.
"I have students where it's the first thing they say when they get off the bus saying, 'Do I have music today, do I have strings today?'" Strings Teacher Liz Hanan said.
Lino Nobrega and 20 other local DJ's want to encourage that passion by hosting Friday's Music for Life concert. It's a fundraiser to keep kids excited about school and music.
The concert begins Friday at 6 pm at the Main Street Armory in Rochester. The event will continue until 1 the next morning.
"It helps with their development skills, social skills," Nobrega said.
The goal - raise money and collect instruments for School No. 17 and School No. 19.
"We're hoping to at least get $2,000 to $3,000, but if we get $100 we'll be happy," he said.
Having instruments in house is important for city schools. At School No. 17 more than 80 percent of the students in their music programs have to borrow their instruments.
Without groups like Music for Life Hanan says, "it wouldn't be possible for our students to participate."
"If we give the students music instruments they will in turn give us music for life." Nobrega said.
A skill Leomary and her classmates will take with them wherever they go.
