The Rochester Arson Task Force has charged a Penfield man for a fire that happened earlier this year in the city.

Andrzej Gierczak, 61, has been charged with arson for a fire at 593 Emerson Street.

Firefighters responded to the home back in August for the report of a house fire and the possibility of people trapped.  Firefighters found flames shooting from 2nd floor windows, but no one was inside.  Firefighters believe the fire was set with a flammable liquid.

No injuries were reported.

Gierczak was sent to the Monroe County Jail and he's to be arraigned Friday morning.

indeed there were people in the house at the time the fire was started. The upstairs was vacent and a family of 4 lived in the downstairs appartment. It just happens to be that one of the small children were in the tub when people started knocking on the front door to let the family know what the house was on fire. This person that set his own home on fire put a family out on the street for over a month..
