Updated: October 4, 2012

At a press conference the authority showed off renderings of the project.

The facility will span an entire block between South Clinton Avenue and South Paul Street.

With 30 bus bays, it will be able to accommodate as many as 100 buses per hour, during peak service times.

Customers will be able to transfer buses inside and the facility will be fully accessible, "you think about the weather that's going to be coming in January and February folks stand out on main street they're cold it gets dark early," said RGRTA Board Chairman Jim Redmond, "now they'll be waiting indoors, they'll be dry, they'll be comfortable, and they'll be safe."

The 50 million dollar project is being paid for by the Federal Transit Administration, New York State Department of Transportation, and RGRTA.

Groundbreaking is set for next month. The construction phase of the project is expected to create more than 400 jobs. When the center opens the RGRTA plans to hire almost 50 new employees.

The center will open in mid 2015.
