A 14-year-old boy is dead after he was struck by a car Wednesday Morning.

It happened on Clyde-Marengo Road in the Town of Galen in Wayne County.

Police responded just before 8:30 Wednesday morning. 14-year-old Neil Hoover was riding his bike to school when the driver of the car hit him from behind.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver has been identified as 60-year-old Cynthia Napoleon of Clyde. Police won't say whether charges have been filed.

Jerry Martin works just down the road. He says he knew Hoover and would often see him riding his bike to Clyde Mennonite School.

"It's unexpected. I knew the child and it's unexpected. It doesn't happen very often. I am shocked," said Martin.

At this time, police are not saying much. They do say the cause of the accident is unknown.
