You don't have to have a large yard, to grow your own fruits and vegetables.   A garden is flourishing on a driveway in the South Wedge. For Tanya Smolinsky and Julie White, being green starts right here.

"To me nothing tastes better to me and is better for me than the food that I have grown in my backyard," says White. Her backyard and her driveway have been transformed into a garden. Everything grown here and raised here is organic.

"It's really about eating as local as I can and it doesn't get any more local than this," says White. They started the garden about 8 years ago and each year it has gotten bigger and bigger."

"The first year it was maybe four and then six and nine and now I don't think there is any more room at this point," says White. So why the driveway?

White says, "I looked around and said where is the sunniest spot in our little piece of land that we have and it's on the driveway."

Julie and Tanya try to eat local because it's better for the environment when food doesn't have to travel as far. They say, it's not hard to be a "locavore" because at this time of year, especially, there are lots of things to choose from.

"Every night when I have to make dinner, I don't just have all tomatoes coming out of my ears. Although I do have those right now, but I have things that I could make a varied meal," says White.
