Wings Even-Steven For First Time Ever

After a 1-2-3 inning by Shairon Martis, the Wings came out firing scoring two runs in the bottom of the first to take an early 2-0 lead. Wilkin Ramirez drove in the first run with an RBI double to score Tsuyoshi Nishioka and Clete Thomas scored Ramirez on an RBI single.
In the bottom of the second, the Wings added to their lead with two more runs making the score 4-0. Nishioka hit a two-RBI double scoring Evan Bigley and Eduardo Escobar.
The Chiefs added one run in the top of the first with two outs when Josh Johnson scored James Skelton on an RBI single to make the score 4-1 Wings. Martis pitched 2 2/3 perfect innings before Skelton reached base on a single.
Martis cruised into the seventh having scattered five hits, while racking up five strikeouts without walking a batter. In the bottom of the seventh Brian Dozier hit a solo home run, his second of the season to left field to make the score 5-1.
The Chiefs cut their deficit to two when Corey Brown hit a two-run home run in the top of the eighth making the score 5-3. The home run led to the exit of Martis, who left the game with seven innings pitched, seven hits, three earned runs, one walk, and five strikeouts. Luis Perdomo relieved Martis and got three quick outs to end the inning.
The Wings added an eighth inning run when reliever Mike MacDougal walked Escobar with the bases loaded. The Chiefs countered with a run off Perdomo in the ninth, with Anthony Slama brought on to close out the game for Rochester.
Nishioka, Dozier, Thomas and Ramirez each had two hits for Rochester.
