Updated: August 7, 2012
The family of a Fairport student has filed a federal lawsuit against the Fairport School District. It claims the school didn't do enough to stop their son from being bullied.

The family is seeking $1 million in damages. According to court papers, the family claims the 7th grader at Martha Brown Middle School was the victim of verbal, physical, and sexual harassment. Court paperwork says the child was attacked by two lacrosse players. Parents say the boy became stressed to the point of "emotional incapacitation."

The district responded saying, "We have worked closely with this family and student. We have worked together to support, intervene and provide a safe environment for this student."

The district says it has not received any notice about the lawsuit.
