The Denver
Outlaws clinched a spot in the 2012 MLL postseason after sweeping the
Rochester Rattlers in a 17-12 win at Sahlen's Stadium on Saturday,
August 4th.
Outlaw M Peet Poillon received the Bud Light player of the game as he
finished with six points on four goals (1 2-pt) and one assist. Kevin
Leveille led the Rattlers with four points
on three goals and an assist. The Rattlers now sit in fifth place in the
MLL standings, one game behind the Boston Cannons, with one game left
in the MLL regular season.
The Rattlers scored the first goal of the game at 1:02 when Steven Boyle had a diving shot from behind the back of the net. The
Outlaws answered with their first point of the game at 4:50 after Jordan McBride scored off a short pass by Jeremy Sieverts. Terry
Kimener scored an unassisted goal at 6:54 giving the
Outlaws their first lead of the game. Rattler MVP SSDM Steve DeNapoli
quickly answered with a goal off a faceoff win by Craig Bunker at 7:09.
Brendan Mundorf, the Outlaw's leader in goals, scored an unassisted goal
at 10:17.
Outlaw D Matthew Bocklet scored off a pass from Justin Pennington at 12:48. Roy Lang cut the Outlaw's lead to 4-3 with a top corner shot from eight
yards. Poillon extended the Outlaw's lead to 5-3 at 14:18 off a short pass from Sieverts. Chris Bocklet scored
off a pass from his brother Matt at 14:37, giving the Outlaws a 6-3 lead after 15 minutes of play.
M Jordan Macintosh opened the scoring in the second quarter for the Rattlers off a pass from A Ned Crotty. Poillon scored
off a diving shot in front of goalie John Galloway at 2:49. Poillon added an unassisted 2-pt goal at 9:39. Leveille tallied a goal from 10 yards off a pass from MacIntosh at 11:42. Mundorf
scored his second goal of the night at 12:42 after he snuck a shot into Galloway's top left corner. The Rattlers trailed the Outlaws 10-5 after the first half.
The Outlaw's scored first in the second half at 1:25 when Mark Matthews slotted a goal from six yards off a pass from Poillon. MacIntosh
scored at 3:33 from just outside the crease from a 10 yards pass by Boyle. Leveille tallied another goal during power play for slashing by Dillon Roy.
Boyle scored his second goal at 6:25. The Outlaws scored three quick powerplay goals at 8:03, 8:29, and 8:52 after Roy, Leveille, and D Joel White
were sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. McBride scored the first goal, and Matthews and Drew Snider scored the next two off of assists by Mundorf.
At 12:49 Kimener earned his second goal of the night with a strong shot pas Galloway. After 45 minutes the Outlaws led 15-8.
DeNapoli dove in front of the net and slotted a goal top shelf at 2:44 at the beginning of the fourth quarter. At

Rotanz weaved through two defenders to cut the Rattler deficit to five.
Mundorf scored at 7:34 after a shot fake on Galloway. At 10:00 Kevin
Drew took the ball from midfield to the cage and bounced a shot past
Jesse Schwartzman.
Leveille tallied his 4th goal on a powerplay 12:01 after Lee Zink was penalized with unsportsmanlike conduct and Steven Holmes received
a penalty for delay of game. Poillon netted the final goal of the game at 13:25 on a diving shot.
The
Rattlers play their last game of the 2012 season at American Legion
Memorial Stadium against the Charlotte Hounds on Saturday, August 11th.
They still have a chance to qualify for the 2012 MLL Playoffs with a win on the road and a Long Island loss to Hamilton.
