Wings Waste Big Night From Carson

By: Thad Brown
Updated: July 28, 2012
Matt Carson hit two home runs, had three hits and drove in four runs, but it still wasn't enough.

The Red Wings lost 8-5 in Columbus Saturday night. The Clippers scored runs in six of eight innings.

Ezequiel Carrera had three hits and drove in three. Matt LaPorta and Jared Goedert each added two RBIs apiece.

LaPorta and Goedert each drove in a run in the bottom of the first when the Clippers took a 2-1 lead. Carrera then singled in a pair during the second inning to make it 4-1 Columbus.

Rochester answered with two in the top of the third on a throwing error and a groundout. After single runs from the Clippers in the third and fourth to make it 6-3, Carson hit his second homer of the game in the 5th. The two run shot got Rochester to within 6-5.

The Wings then loaded the bases in the 7th and had two on in the 8th and 9th, but could not score again. The same two play three more times in Columbus.
