Patent Dispute Will Remain in Bankruptcy Court

By: WROC-TV
Updated: July 26, 2012
A federal court has denied a motion filed by Apple to take the company's patent dispute with Kodak out of bankruptcy court.

A federal judge in Manhattan handed down the decision Thursday. The two companies are disputing over the ownership of several patents. The patents are part of technology that both companies collaborated to create in the 90s. Apple claims to be the rightful owner of all the patents in question, but Kodak says Apple's claims are baseless and are only meant to keep it from selling them off. Kodak is planning to sell the patents at an auction as way to recover from bankruptcy.

The patent auction is set for August 8th.
