Experts Expect Poverty Level to Grow

By: WROC-TV
Updated: July 23, 2012
A new survey of more than a dozen economists finds the number of Americans living in poverty will increase to levels not seen since the 1960's.

The official poverty rate in 2010 was 15.1 percent. Experts predict the poverty rate for 2011 will increase to 15.7 percent. But even if there is an increase of just a tenth of a percent, we will have the highest poverty level since 1965.
