Walters made a rehab start for the Wings, coming in with a 3-1 record and a 3.13 ERA. For Pawtucket, Billy Buckner took the hill entering the night with a 1-2 record and a 7.36 ERA.
In the top of the third, Che-Hsuan Lin hit a single to right field, but the Wings executed the relay well throwing out Jon Hee and Lin for the 9-2-6 double play to end the top half of the inning.
The Wings had an opportunity to score their first run in the bottom of the fourth when Florimon hit a double with one out. Florimon moved to third on Matt Carson's fly ball to right field but, Danny Valencia popped out leaving Florimon stranded at third, keeping the game scoreless.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Wings had another opportunity to put runs on the board. With two outs, back-to-back singles by Clete Thomas and J.R. Towles put runner on first and third, but the Wings were unable to capitalize as Tsuyoshi Nishioka flew out, leaving two stranded.
Walters was relieved by Bobby Lanigan in the sixth. Walters left the game with 5 innings pitched, 5 hits, and 2 strikeouts.
The Wings took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth when Florimon led off the inning with a double followed by a Chris Parmelee walk. Valencia's RBI single scored Florimon.
Thomas led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a long homer to right-center off Garrett Mock, Thomas's team-leading eighth homer of the season.
Lanigan worked a scoreless sixth and seventh inning, but got into a jam in the eighth. The Sox put the tying runs aboard with one out, and Dan Sattler came out of the bullpen to make his Triple-A and Red Wings debut. Facing veteran Andy LaRoche, Sattler gave up a groundball to the hole at short that Florimon made a run-saving diving stop on. But the infield hit loaded the bases, and a fielder's choice groundout by Alex Hassan got the PawSox on the scoreboard with two outs. Florimon made another great defensive play to rob J. C. Linares of a game-tying hit, and when Florimon touched second base for a force out the Wings were out of the jam and still leading 2-1.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Valencia's towering home run into the left field bullpen off Mock made it a 3-1 game.
Sattler walked a batter with one out in the ninth, and Parmelee reached into the stands to catch a foul pop for the second out. But Sattler walked another batter to put the tying runs on base with two out. After a mound visit from manager Gene Glynn, Sattler was lifted for Luis Perdomo with Lin due up. Lin, who already had three hits in the game, was caught looking on strike three as Perdomo picked up the save in the Wings win.
